Light in obscurity

There’s truth in night and in shadows.
There’s truth in the breeze that touches the willows.
The hallow of the soul creating a hollow on your mind,
The obscurity of the night is not a fiend.
Outward facades that one puts on during the day ,
With the advent of dusk it gradually decays.
And, eyes see light
More luminous than the daylight.
And lips utter words ,
Which at day the brain never accords .
Perhaps it’s called the witching hour ,
Because to embrace the demon within is beyond a mortal’s power.
Night is alluring ,
Night is engulfing .
Night bewitches ,
Night enthralls.
Night kills,
Night heals.
There’s truth in night and in shadows ,
There’s truth in the breeze that touches the willows.

  1. When the sky wears her dark mantle , how cloaks come apart , naked shadows dancing on the wall , those demons that lurk in our hearts 🙂
    Loved this one 🙂

  2. In times of despair the night unveils to you a beautiful sight, of countless stars and a brilliant sky for you to gaze, and a moment of bliss is felt when the chilly air hits your skin softly. It is at this moment you are engulfed by inspiration. Ergo, the night is not as eerie as it sounds to some. I loved this poem, it is powerful. P.s, its great that you have started posting again!

    1. Thankyou for your beautiful comment . Indeed , at night the sight of the crescent moon hiding beneath the white clouds is so beguiling and if one’s lucky one might even be able to see the orion belt .I’m glad you loved the poem Kaushik , I always look forward to know your views 😉

  3. P.S Forgive this novice, poems aren’t to be dissected, did nature’s night time beauty move your pen, or metaphorical darkness and what it means left to beholder, oh great Poet. Sorry for annoying, hope the platitude is good compense.

  4. It’s the night that shows you the light… The all knowing beauty that unmasks you… a great observation Shreya.
